At my Opening on Friday lots of folks asked which of the 17 Canvases is my favorite. It tough to answer a question like that. Especially since during the process of painting the series, I considered all of the paintings to be different perspectives on the same idea. I didn't paint one at a time. I worked on them all at once, and let the composition and vibe of each tell me what to do next. They grew organically, individually and as a series. That said, my favorite would have to be the one pictured above. I struggled with it for weeks, and felt it was the weakest for some time, but in the final days of work it really came together in a unique way. Awkward, funky, layered, engaging, and confusing.
