Interviewed : My Modern Met.

Did a fun Q&A with the good folks at My Modern Met yesterday. The interview focuses on how my signature "Vectorfunk" style of illustration has evolved over the years, and how I've taken the momentum from digital artwork and directed it back to canvas paintings, murals, and other areas of design. Definitely surf around their website, lots of great stuff. Thanks Alice! Read Interview.

Big Thanks to Basheer Publishing (Singapore) for featuring my 2009 Calendar in their new book : Creative Calendar Collection. Awesome collection of innovation and flair in functional design.

St. Croix : Island Time.

Saint Croix is treating us well. Lots of fun adventures already. Rented a Jeep and have been bombing 'round dem beaches, hit the rainforest and fed (*O'Douls) beer to pigs. Still on the To-Do List : Night sea-kayaking with bioluminescent creatures, snorkeling in bath water, hermit crab races, and more Rum. Good times!

Ironlak Films : Oakland Trackside.

Boom! THE VIDEO of the Big Trackside Production we painted in Oakland a few months ago is up. Hyped with how the clip turned out. It really captures the essence of graffiti and the excitement of the experience. Just one night. While you were sleeping. All black everything. Must see. Turn the volume UP and view full screen!
BIG Thanks to Ironlak for the hooks on paint, Lea Bruno for the amazing photography, and 1000 Panthers for the post production work. Looking forward to rocking out again soon dudes!

Battle Of The Bands.

Cheers to The Whiskey Crisis for taking home the win at The Big Easy Battle Of The Bands last night. Great tunes!

Big Game On Sunday.

Featured : From Your Desks.

Nice feature over at FromYourDesks.com. I talk a bit about my workspaces, process, and some of the stuff that inspires me. It's a really cool idea for a website. Some great features in their Archive. It's fun looking behind the curtain and learning about where and how different creative people do their thing.

YES Gallery.

Pleased to announce that I've just confirmed with the good folks at YES Gallery in Cincinnati, Ohio for an April Residency and Exhibition. Excited to visit this city! Lots of history and cool art to see. I'll be doing a new series of canvas paintings (on location) for this show, and some big murals around town too. Really excited. It's always nice to have a fun exhibition on the horizon. Thanks Andrew!

Refreshing Universal Icons.

One of my favorites from our growing Glyph Cue Archive. As a Designer it's always a fun challenge to work with weighted icons and create something new from them. Most cats would never wear a verbatim Yin-Yang Tee, but this off-balance Sacred 7 remixed jam has been a big hit. *Some sizes still available.

Miquelrius Notebook Series.

Last year I had the pleasure of collaborating with Miquelrius (Barcelona) on a series of Notebook Covers for their next line. They were keen on doing a repeat pattern, but when I proposed this twisted "Frozen River" version it was well received. Stay tuned in the coming weeks for the official launch.

Word Weaving.

I've had fun working with street-level fashion label Higher (New Zealand) on graphics for their upcoming lines. Here's a preview of one of my favorites. A mash up of rasta colors, collegiate crests, and abstracted typography. Click-Zoom.

2006 Flashback : Then & Now.

I've been perusing my archive of B/W paintings and getting reacquainted with the ideas I was pushing around in past Winters. B/W B:3 (2006) was a great year for my process and technique. An evolution from the clean graphics of B/W B:2 (2005).
I went on exploring the Wet/Dry Mix with B/W B:4 (2007) and then returned to bold clean lines and shading in B/W B:5 (2008). This next series I've just begun will be interesting. Stay tuned!
