The first completed painting from this next chapter of my wintertime monochrome series. 65 x 50cm. All sorts of different techniques to get a full range of greyscale.
First wet washes, then clean illustration, more wet on top of that, back to the clean, repeat, repeat.
Also using graphite on black to get a surprise reflection at the right angle, and crosshatching thin strokes to get a nice graphic transparency effect. Mixing order and chaos. Where mathematics meets mystery.
