Last month I was in Detroit working on this 100 foot long mural in The Z, a new parking garage downtown. BIG thanks to Library Street Collective, Bedrock Real Estate, and the resilient city of Detroit. It was a super fun project, in an exciting city, surrounded by artists I've looked up to for years. More Info. Photos do not do this mural justice. The real experience is going to be when a car is making it's rounds through the garage, headlights on, in search of a parking spot. Getting the foundation layers wrapped up on day # 2 of this 10 day, 100+ cans of paint, mural marathon.
Details. The up/down spectrum from cold to hot worked out well and enhances the reflective nature of the facets and optical illusions. Through the windshield of a parked car any crop will frame up nicely.
Such a great project. Thanks to everyone involved. I am already looking forward to my next trip to Detroit. It truly is one of the new art capitals of America.
