Last week I had the pleasure of working with
New York Times Magazine on this typography illustration for their article "
Old Dictionaries : The Uses and Abuses of Outdated Lexicons." It was a fun one to work on, and the article is an interesting read too. It examines why some present day folks still cherish and reference outdated Dictionaries. In a world where Google and Wikipedia have made knowledge much easier to obtain, and Online Portals and Blogs have given Print a run for it's money, it's refreshing to be reminded of the past by physically holding a printed artifact. *I remember when I was a kid we would go to the School Library and be tested on how quickly we could find a word in The Dictionary. I wonder if they now have Google Query contests instead?
