Matt W. Moore, 32 ans, vit à Portland (Maine, USA). Il a fondé et anime toujours MWM Graphics. Matt pratique plusieurs disciplines : l’illustration digitale colorée – c’est un pilier du Vectorfunk, la peinture, l’aquarelle et bien entendu l’aérosol qui reste sa technique de prédilection, surtout pour les grandes surfaces murales.

Son oeuvre est reconnue internationalement, son travail a influencé de nombreux artistes et c’est, ne boudons pas notre plaisir, une immense joie de l’accueillir à nouveau.

Il y a deux ans Matt était arrivé à Paris les mains dans les poches. Rien d’autres qu’une valise et une folle envie de produire. Sur place, dans la galerie, pendant un mois. Alors oui ça s’était fait comme ça : d’abord les courses et les fournitures, puis du travail, beaucoup de travail. Énormément même. A la fin, une exposition qui fera date et un mur de 8m par 6m qui reste un repère dans l’histoire de notre galerie. Aujourd’hui presque 24 mois jour pour jour, il est de retour à Paris. Dans les mêmes conditions, ou presque. Sauf que : si Crystals & Lasers (son exposition précédente chez SINCE Gallery (Paris) puisait son inspiration dans la géometrie particulière des facettes et des arrêtes cristallines, Matt explore aujourd’hui un nouvel espace.

En effet, GRAVITY, – tout en s’appuyant toujours sur la même technique de peintures aérosols totalement analogique – est une évolution, un travail plus organique. Qui met en scène des vecteurs déformés, happés par des courbes. Une géométrie de l’interaction. Comme par Gravité. English Translation.

MWM X NIKE Running : Boston Marathon 2012.

I've collaborated with NIKE again, this time with their Running Division, on merchandise and branding for the upcoming Boston Marathon (April 16th, 2012). Pictured above is the new LunarGlide+ 3 model that I designed the graphics and colorway for. The kicks are now available online for Men and Women. Put that Cyan to the pavement Boston!

In addition to the sneaker collaboration I illustrated this piece (For apparel & print media) inspired by the different areas of Boston that the race passes through. BOSTON is spelled out in the clouds (see it?), the city skyline, The Charles River, Storrow Drive, and I even made the shoe-print into a map of Back Bay. Mysty swoosh, compass, and stopwatch tucked in there too. Definitely a fun one to illustrate!

Gravity Series : Preview # 1.

I've been having a lot of fun here in Paris working on a new series of canvases for my exhibition "GRAVITY" at Since Gallery. BIG Thanks to my friends Laurent & Alexandre for having me back for another residency! The show opens on April 27th (More info soon). This series of work is an evolution from the purely geometric abstractions from my past few exhibitions : Sun Ray Ricochet (Moscow 2011) + XYZ Axis (Cincinnati 2011) + Crystals & Lasers (Paris 2010) + Parallel Universe (Sao Paulo 2009) + 20/20 (Barcelona 2008). I have been blending in more organic cosine snap-lines and circles, echoing my current push towards more robust compositions (2012 Murals + 2011 Murals). I feel like I am beginning an exciting new chapter of canvas painting, returning to ideas from Past Work with fresh eyes and new techniques. It has been years since I was so excited, so curious, about how canvas paintings would take shape. Stay tuned for much more...
