MWM X Gravis FW09.

A few years back I had the pleasure of working with Gravis Footwear on a series of Textile Graphics, Patches, and Faux-Knit Patterns for their Fall/Winter 2009 Expedition Series. On Friday while we were in Burlington, Vermont we stopped in to the Burton HQ and I got to see some of the gear for the first time. That's always a great feeling for me, standing there holding the product, reflecting on the project all the way from brainstorming to actualizing. I love my job!
Timeless and Rugged. Check out the Moose knit on the collar!
These ones are fun. My favorite of the patch graphics. The Igloo.
Here's the full Graphic Exploration. A proper Winter Wonderland of : Snowflakes, Icicles, Evergreens, Ropes, Knots, Mountains, Stars, Moose, and Knit Patterns. Lots of fun. BIG Thanks to the Gravis Crew! Stay tuned for more photos from this FW09 Series (Bags, Luggage, More Sneakers, Etc.) and a new MWM X Gravis Spring/Summer 2010 Line dropping soon! Click-Zoom.

Chairlift to Heaven.

We just got back from an epic weekend escape to Smuggler's Notch (Northern Vermont). Perfect conditions thanks to 40 inches of new snow last week and mild daytime temperatures. Good times!

Twitter Backgrounds.

So here we are. It's 2010. Are you on Twitter yet? Follow Me my fellow Twits. Over the past couple years there have been a ton of people farming images from my Webfolio for their Twitter Backgrounds. This usually makes me smile, except sometimes it looks horrible because the images were not properly prepared for the repeat-tile-style. Well I've made it easy for you and prepped 2 Twitter (or PC Desktop) Patterns derived from one of my Crystals & Lasers Exhibition paintings. Full-Spectrum Diamonds & Monochrome Diamonds. Enjoy! *If you are still one of those people that updates their Facebook Profile 10+ times a day with semi-meaningless morsels, perhaps NOW is the time to Join Twitter. It's filled with this type of banter. Good times!

Big Book. Big Ideas.

When I got home from France I was psyched to open up and peruse the PSFK : Good Ideas For 2010 Book that I designed the cover and chapter imagery for. It's a great book filled with forward thinking and thought provoking ideas. I've said it many times here on my Blog, and I will say it again : Pay attention to PSFK. You'll thank me later. Inspiration & Insight 24/7. Well done Piers & Co. Thanks again!

Refined & Reworked.

At my Opening on Friday lots of folks asked which of the 17 Canvases is my favorite. It tough to answer a question like that. Especially since during the process of painting the series, I considered all of the paintings to be different perspectives on the same idea. I didn't paint one at a time. I worked on them all at once, and let the composition and vibe of each tell me what to do next. They grew organically, individually and as a series. That said, my favorite would have to be the one pictured above. I struggled with it for weeks, and felt it was the weakest for some time, but in the final days of work it really came together in a unique way. Awkward, funky, layered, engaging, and confusing. Success! Click-Zoom.

Artworks + Vernissage + Backstage.

MWM : Crystals & Lasers. Exhibition & Artwork Photos. My month in Paris, things seen and places been, behind the scenes in my painting laboratory, the mural, the awesome opening reception, and the 17 new canvas paintings. I had so much fun. Thanks Everyone!
I am very pleased with how the canvases turned out. A clear evolution from my Parallel Universe Series (June 2009 : Sao Paulo, Brazil) but still with the scrambled vision, hypercolors, and op-art zing. All I do is daydream about where to go next with this style. No Ceilings!
The show runs through March 12th. Swing through and please pass the word to your friends in France and beyond :) View Full Slideshow.
