For the Ladies.
Last Summer I had the pleasure of working with SPORTSGIRL (Australia) on a special "Collectors Cosmetic Kit" called Unfold & Be Bold. I must admit, I was a bit uneasy at first (Afterall, I am all about keepin' it real to the maximum). Well, after about 2 or 3 seconds of pondering, and a few correspondences with the Ausi Ladies at Sportsgirl, I was on board (I'll deal with the noogies from my graffiti homies later. Ha!). If I knew anything about make-up, I'd tell you what comes in this special bundle. I suppose if you know anything about make-up, you can already tell from the photo. LOTS! Click-Zoom.
BIG Thanks to the ladies at Sportsgirl. The set looks fantastic. Amazing attention to detail on the printing/packaging. You've exposed my art to a whole new audience : Beautiful Australian Ladies. I can dig it!
MWM : ALPHAFONT 4.0 - HypeForType.
VERY excited to announce, after months of design, finesse, and prep, MWM : ALPHAFONT 4.0 is now available over at HypeForType. It just launched tonight as part of HFT's Exclusive Typefaces Volume #2 : Non-Format, Suprb, Research Studios, MWM Graphics, and Richard Perez. Volume #1 : Si Scott, Alex Trochut, Hellohikimori, Jon Burgerman, and Luke Lukas. Swing through and Check the Set!
*Type Nerd Factoid : Whatchaknowabout The Quick Brown Fox?As many of you already know, each year I create a new typeface for my ongoing Alphafont Series. This is the first one that you can actually buy and use as a font. *Please let me know where Alphafont 4.0 is used. Email pics. Can't wait to see where it turns up! View Alphafont 3.0 (2008) + Alphafont 2.0 (2007) + Alphafont 1.0 (2006).
You're just three clicks away from installing ALPHAFONT 4.0. Do it!
Here's a little taste of my process of constructing the typeface. Every letter-form started as a solid block with consistent break lines. It was a lot of fun trying to figure new ways to tweak out each letter, while remaining unique, consistent, balanced, and legible.
Head on over to HypeForType and check out The Typesetter. Type in a message... Your Name, Your Girl's Name, Whatevs. It's like a test drive. *Just make sure you buy a copy if you plan on doing any commercial work with my typeface. BIG thanks to Alex Haigh for having me along for this special HFT V.2. It's a huge honor to be featured alongside such Heavyweights and Legends. Enjoy!

New York Times Magazine.
Last week I had the pleasure of working with New York Times Magazine on this typography illustration for their article "Old Dictionaries : The Uses and Abuses of Outdated Lexicons." It was a fun one to work on, and the article is an interesting read too. It examines why some present day folks still cherish and reference outdated Dictionaries. In a world where Google and Wikipedia have made knowledge much easier to obtain, and Online Portals and Blogs have given Print a run for it's money, it's refreshing to be reminded of the past by physically holding a printed artifact. *I remember when I was a kid we would go to the School Library and be tested on how quickly we could find a word in The Dictionary. I wonder if they now have Google Query contests instead? Click-Zoom.

With A Quickness.
Here are a couple of my "Live Drawings" from Draw Your Face Off (October's First Friday) at Space Gallery. It was a really fun event. I had a blast reconnecting with Portland's contemporary artist community, and it's always interesting working on artwork with an audience watching. Cheers to the Pine Haven Collective for organizing the event. I'm already looking forward to the next one. Click-Zoom.

PARIS Exhibition : February 2010.
I am VERY excited to announce that my next Solo Exhibition will be in February 2010 at SINCE.Upian Gallery (Paris, France). The best part... I am going with no artwork or supplies. Instead, I will create the entire body of work in Paris during the month leading up to the show. I really enjoyed this process when I went to Brazil for my Parallel Universe Exhibition. I'd be a happy man to continue doing shows like this for the rest of my career. I feel even more inspired and alive when I travel, and it shows in the work. Stay tuned for more details. YES!
